Sorrow is better than laughter
Sorrow is better than laughter:
for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better.
Ecclesiastes 7:3
"Sorrow is better than laughter. The Preacher (of the book of
Eccesiastes) was convinced that seriousness accomplishes more
than levity. It sharpens the mind to grapple with the great
issues of life, whereas frivolity wastes time and prevents
people from coming to grips with what is important." - William
MacDonald
I walked a mile with
Pleasure;
She chattered all the way,
But left me none the wiser
For all she had to say
I walked a mile with Sorrow,
And not a word said she;
But oh, the things I learned from her
When Sorrow walked with me!
